Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 8th, 2026:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Nick Huston. Nick averaged nearly a double-double in three games last week. He scored over 10 points a game, while also pulling down 8 rebounds. Adding to his great week, he led the team in assists with over 4 a game.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore boys basketball player, Collin Leary. Collin averaged 14 points in three Red Storm games last week. He put up 17 in a win over West Central, along with 4 assists. Collin was deadly from the 3-point arc, nailing a total of 8 in the three games.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is freshman boys basketball player, Sam Deverell. Sam has continued his hot start to the season with a strong finish as the regular season winds down. He averaged 12 points in two games last week. Sam was especially effective in a win over Knoxville with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 8-for-10 from the free throw line.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is freshman boys swimmer, Samuel Puerta. Samuel is the Western Big Six Conference champion in the 100 yard breaststroke event. He also was a part of two 1st place relay teams as the Streaks won their 4th straight conference championship. Samuel also medaled in the 500 yard freestyle event, placing 3rd.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior girls bowler, Hailey Paschal. Hailey helped the Tornadoes to a second place team finish at the regional tournment in Morton. She placed 12th individually, rolling a 6-game score of 988. Hailey had a single-game high of 187 as she and her teammates will move on to the Joliet West Sectional.
