The Monmouth College baseball team has wrapped up their annual spring break trip to Florida, where the Scots faced several Division III programs from across the country.
Monmouth struggled early in the trip, dropping their first two games, but battled back to finish the trip with a 4-5 record.
Along with picking up some wins in Florida, the Fighting Scots also made history during their game against Penn State-Behrend, when freshman Sophia Broderick became the first female to ever appear in a Monmouth College baseball game, shares Sports Information Director Nathan Baliva.
Before coming to Monmouth, Broderick graduated from Geneva High School, where she played on the baseball team. Broderick was also a member of the 2024 USA Baseball Women’s National Team.
Broderick made one appearance during the trip, in a 19-5 loss to Penn State-Behrend. She threw two innings, allowing two runs and striking out two batters.
The Scots, who sit at 4-10 overall, will return to Monmouth for their home opener Thursday against Dominican University.
