The Galesburg micropolitan area has been ranked in the Top 25 nationally by Site Selection Magazine. Knox County Area Partnership President Ken Springer explains what that means for both Knox and Warren Counties:
“Site Selection Magazine is like the Sports Illustrated for economic development and periodicals. They keep track of all these different projects that happen in the development world and then they rank communities based on the amount of activity. The Galesburg micropolitan area has been ranked in the Top 25. The Galesburg micropolitan area actually includes all of Knox County and all of Warren County together,” says Springer.
“There was just a bunch that fell into the 2025 time frame. The biggest being Western Smokehouse Partners project in the former Maytag building. Then there was the additional expansion of Thrushwood Farms on West Main and the DeLong intermodal ag facility announcement. This is really important, it helps tell a story about the community outside of our region,” Springer adds.
Springer reports this is the first time Galesburg has appeared among the rankings with Site Selection Magazine for economic development.
