Higher education has faced a number of challenges over the last several years, but for Knox College, the key is staying focused on who they are as an institution. President of Knox College Dr. Andrew McGadney shares how Knox is approaching those challenges.
“There are lots of things that I would say around the challenges. For our team at Knox College, we stand on just a few simple things: being true to who we are in our mission. If you focus on growth, you focus on being ambitious and bold, you focus on innovation in this moment in time, great things can happen.
One of the benefits for me is that I’ve been a big believer in small residential liberal arts schools all my life. I’m a product of one. My kids have gone to small liberal arts colleges.
We can be really nimble. Coming out of COVID, we learned a lot of things. We learned that despite global challenges, despite crises that no one could ever dream of, we can pivot. We can adapt.”
Dr. McGadney also says that despite the challenges facing higher education, he remains optimistic about the future.
