Changes throughout life can be difficult to process. A newly established program at MercyOne in Aledo, Senior Life Solutions, was designed to meet the unique needs of older adults, informs Program Director Brooke Mitchell:
“This is a new program for seniors 65 and older. It is a mental health program, really just helping seniors with life transitions; so maybe grief, transitioning into retirement, loneliness, they don’t have to have a mental health diagnosis necessarily, but anxiety and depression as well,” says Mitchell.
“Our program is actually a group therapy session, so a group setting with your peers, a maximum of ten people in the group and as low as two. We have a licensed therapist that will facilitate the group and we also do individual therapy and family therapy,” Mitchell adds.
The Senior Life Solutions program is located at 409 Northwest Ninth Avenue in Aledo.
