The Monmouth-Roseville School District Board of Education has announced Katy Morrison will serve as the next Superintendent, following the retirement of Ed Fletcher:
“The Board of Education approved the contract for Mrs. Morrison to be an Assistant Superintendent next year and the year after, then after that replace me as Superintendent because I will be retiring at that time. It has been fourteen years and will be sixteen total. We are very, very excited. We talk a lot about different things. She has learned a little bit from me, she is learning a little bit from the board members but also has to be herself; have her own vision and have her own thoughts about how to move the district forward,” says Fletcher.
Board of Education President PJ Brooks says approving Morrison as the next Superintendent was an easy decision:
“As President and as the Board, you get concerned when you have a guy come to you that has been with you for so long as Superintendent, so you get a little nervous. Who can we find, who can try and replace such a great person. It was a no-brainer. Katy will transition right into the spot. Her leadership, her dedication to our district, to her students, to everybody; it was really an easy choice. We are very happy, very ecstatic about her taking over,” Brooks states.
Morrison, who currently serves as the Principal of Harding Primary School, is excited for this next pathway of her education journey:
“I have been at Monmouth-Roseville for twelve years. I am finishing up my nineteenth year in education. I started my teaching career in Bushnell Prairie City, taught there for seven years and then ventured here. I taught second grade for five years at Harding Primary and then I transitioned to the principalship. I am finishing my seventh year as the principal at Harding Primary. It is home to me, it’s been home to me for the last twelve years. It is just a very special place. We have a lot of amazing students, very dedicated staff; just continue to work alongside them and keep making Titan Nation excel,” Morrison adds.
Morrison will work as an Assistant Superintendent the next two school years before taking over as Superintendent of the Monmouth-Roseville School District July 1, 2028.
