On March 2, 2026, at approximately 11:14 PM, a Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Illinois Route 41 from Illinois Route 116 with an excessively loud exhaust.

When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle failed to yield, resulting in a pursuit 🚓💨. The driver fled into the Village of St. Augustine, disregarded a stop sign, drove through a residential yard, and continued through an agricultural field before crossing a creek where the vehicle became disabled.

The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot 🏃‍♂️. Deputies deployed a drone 🚁 and established a perimeter while searching for the suspect, who was seen running toward a nearby residence.

The homeowner 🏠 advised deputies the individual knocked on his door stating he had crashed his vehicle and needed a ride. As the homeowner exited to assist, the suspect observed deputies in the area and ran back into the residence. The homeowner then exited and made contact with deputies.

The suspect was repeatedly ordered to exit but failed to comply. Deputies maintained a perimeter while the Knox County / Galesburg Police Department Special Response Team (SRT) responded. 📢 After additional commands and a secondary call-out, SRT personnel breached a door and the suspect exited the residence, where he was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect was identified as Bradley Allen Canier, 37, of East Galesburg, Illinois.

Canier was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with:

• Criminal Trespass to Residence

• Disobeying a Stop Sign

• Driving While License Suspended

Canier was evaluated on scene by Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service (GHAS) 🚑 and cleared without further medical concerns.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office thanks Knox County 911 Dispatch 📞, Warren County Sheriff’s Office 🚓, Galesburg Police Department 👮🏼, Illinois State Police Troop 4 🚔 , and Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service (GHAS) 🚑 for their assistance.

⚖️ All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
