Higher education has undergone many changes in the last few years, and Western Illinois University is one example of that shift.

President of WIU Dr. Kristi Mindrup says the university has done significant work to reshape the institution.

“At Western Illinois University, we’ve certainly done significant work to reshape our institution, and part of that has been through reshaping our academic programs. Making sure our academic programs are well aligned with state priorities in manufacturing, mental health and education, and also aligned with the needs of our region and local workforce. Making sure our students receive a well-rounded education through general education and their major courses, while also having career preparation built throughout their time at Western Illinois University.”

President Mindrup also noted that, in addition to meeting academic standards, WIU is working to meet the needs of students across the region.
