Colonial America Comes to Life in Bishop Hill

To honor America’s 250th Birthday this year, the Bishop Hill Heritage Association is hosting a variety of programs that look at various aspects of early U.S. history. The first program for this series will be a presentation about Colonial America on Saturday, April 11 2026 in the Steeple Building Museum. This free one-hour program by Barry Grove starts at 1 p.m. at 103 North Bishop Hill St., Bishop Hill IL. The Colonial America presentation depicts life in the colonies prior to the Revolutionary War. Topics include daily chores, clothing, diet, trades, and apprenticeships, medical treatments of the day, children’s games, money systems, economic geography of the English Colonies, social structures, community punishments, etc.

Mr. Grove is a former Cedar Rapids Iowa teacher and administrator. Each year, Mr. Grove does a variety of historic presentations for approximately 2,500 students and adults. For more information about this particular program, please contact the BHHA at bhha@mymctc.net or at 309 927-3899
