Helen V. Taylor, 92, of Galesburg, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Ascension SE Hospital in Franklin, Wisconsin, with family by her side.

She was born on November 30, 1933, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Milton and Ollie (Taylor) Wells. She married Robert T. Taylor in Terre Haute on September 3, 1955. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2026, after over 70 years of marriage.

She is survived by a daughter, Dolores (Marc) Thomas of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; one granddaughter, Bridget Lipscomb; four great grandchildren, Markus Green, Brinden Green, Thomas “T.J.” Eichelberger Jr., and Pamela Eichelberger; a great-great granddaughter, Nala Green; one brother, Robert Wells of Sycamore, Illinois; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Pamela Brannon; and siblings, Joseph Wells, William Wells, Lucius Wells, James Wells, Carl Wells, Emma Wells, and Katherine Madison.

Helen was raised and educated in Terre Haute, where she attended Gersmeyer High School.  She and her husband moved to Galesburg in 1955.   Helen was a homemaker.  She enjoyed spending time with her husband and daughters.  Before her daughters started first grade, she taught them to spell their name, counting to 100, and reciting the letters of the alphabet.  She had a kind and gentle spirit and will be remembered for her love and care for her family and friends.  She was a dedicated and faithful member of the Israel God’s Church, where for many years she served as the Sunday School Treasurer, a choir member and a member of the kitchen staff.

Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Israel of God’s Church, 2147 Windish Dr., Galesburg, IL. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services of Galesburg is honored to serve the family.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.h-p-w.com.
