IHSA Committee Looking at competitive balance

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has established a competitive balance committee, which aims to address disparities between public and private schools competing in interscholastic athletics.

The committee has already met twice.

IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson says the committee will meet monthly through September and look at the association’s multiplier, success factor, and 30-mile radius that non-boundaried schools can pull students from.

The IHSA competitive balance committee is made up of eight public school administrators, six private school administrators, and three IHSA administrators.

The committee’s next meeting is scheduled for May 6.
