Monmouth College’s Ashby Named MWC Softball Player of the Week

MONMOUTH, ILL. (04/20/2026) For the second time in three weeks, Monmouth College senior softball player Karleigh Ashby (Monmouth, Illinois) was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.

Ashby tied a 37-year-old Monmouth single-game record by scoring five runs in the opening game of Sunday’s double header at Rose-Hulman. For the day she was 7-for-9 (.778) at the plate with seven runs scored, two doubles, two RBI and two stolen bases. Monmouth’s leadoff hitter went 4-for-5 in the 13-5 game one win with five runs scored, a double, a RBI and two steals. She then went 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI in the 5-4 game two win.

Ashby was also the MWC Player of the Week on April 6 and this is Monmouth’s third award of the season. Savannah Powers (Volo, Illinois) won the award in March.

Ashby is among the Midwest Conference leaders in batting average (.417), hits (43), runs (27), doubles (12), total bases (58), walks (15), OBP (.500) and stolen bases (12). The Fighting Scots play a double header at Cornell at 4 p.m. on Wednesday and host Grinnell at 1 p.m. Saturday.
