It was a busy week for United Red Storm softball, as they were able to get five games in, including their first Lincoln Trail Conference West Division matchup of the year.
The Red Storm had a tough start to the week, falling to Orion, West Hancock, and Ridgewood.
United then turned their attention to a conference doubleheader Saturday against Abingdon-Avon.
The Red Storm dropped game one 17-7 but responded in a big way in game two.
United found themselves trailing 12-11 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Red Storm had one more push left.
Ava Westart led off the inning with a double, and Natali Postin was intentionally walked to put two on. That brought up Attie Bernhardt, who delivered, ripping a double to left field to bring home both runs as United walked it off with a 13-12 win.
United now sits at 3-9 on the season with another busy week ahead.
Assistant Coach Kennedy Baughman shares her squad’s mentality heading into another packed week.
The Red Storm will open the week at home tonight against Illini West before hitting the road Thursday at Stark County and Friday for a doubleheader against West Central.
