A capital improvement project is underway at Warren County Housing, according to Executive Director, Hank Shimmin:
“That capital improvement project includes our four elevators; two at Costello Terrace and they are both complete and two at Oak Terrace, which one is complete and they are doing the second one. We are doing a little extra work on that second one; drilling and replacing the piston, so it is a big job. We will be very glad when they are all done and all complete. So far, everyone has been very happy. All the residents at Costello Terrace are thrilled to have the new elevators done. They are nice, new, and clean. We just feel safer.”
Upcoming capital improvements include windows, appliances and bathroom remodels. Warren County Housing projects are approved by HUD and include 274 units at Oak Terrace, Costello Terrace and Lincoln Homes in Monmouth plus locations in Roseville and Kirkwood.
In addition to the capital improvement project, Shimmin says they are preparing for their 8th annual Summer Strong Families event in June.
“Thursday, June 11th and we have set a rain date just in case for Tuesday, June 23rd. The event is at Lincoln Homes, but it is for all of our residents. All are invited and throughout the community. Last year, Shawn Temple was there and did a live feed on the radio. Between that and Facebook, we had a lot of community members find out about it and came, which was great and wonderful. We want to extend that outreach to all of our community. It is family-focused, but we want to reach all of our residents.”
The event will be held on June 11th from 4-6 pm and features local agencies who will be present to provide resources and information for residents as well as a meal. Contact Warren County Housing at 309 -734-2080.
