Delores E. Armstrong, 91, of Monmouth, IL passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Renaissance Care Center, Canton, IL.

Delores was born December 6, 1934, in Camden, IL the daughter of John Franklin and Sarah (Morrell) Reeder.  She was raised and educated in Camden and Rushville, IL.  She graduated from Rushville High School. 

She married George M. Armstrong in 1954 in Rushville.

Delores was a homemaker while raising her family.  She later worked for Western Illinois University in Macomb for 15 years in the housekeeping department before retiring.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth.  She enjoyed dancing, crocheting, cooking where she was known for her homemade apple dumplings and noodles.  Her focus and true love in life was her family, especially her being there for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Darla (Larry) Gentle of Canton and Janice (Scott) Champion of Mooresville, NC; her grandchildren, Ryan Gentle, Lance Gentle, Corey Champion, Mandy Champion and Maggie Champion; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Imogene Nell of Fairview, IL and her special friend, Linda Brent.

She was preceded by her parents and 10 siblings.Cremation has been accorded.  A Celebration of Life Service will be announced and held at a later date.  Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
