Bringing home a new pet starts with the process designed to ensure the right fit for both the pet and the family and adopting can be a rewarding experience. Knox County Humane Society Director Erin Buckmaster explains the adoption process:
“Our adoption hours are noon to 4 pm, that is your best time to come. Call the number of the door, come in and talk to us, and we will find the pet that is right for you. We don’t let you walk through the shelter anymore because of insurance policies, but you can see all of our pets anytime through the pet doors that we put in. Usually, we try to fit the right pet with the right family. Come in and fill out an application, talk to us, and we will bring the dogs to the lobby for you to take it for a walk.”
Buckmaster adds that fees are currently being waived on many of their available animals.
