As Warren County prepares for a new sheriff to take office later this year, Republican nominee for Sheriff AJ Cox outlines priorities for the department’s future:
“I do want to say thank you to Sheriff Edwards. He has been nothing but open arms in this situation, bringing me in on meetings, some random day to day stuff in the jail, to being a part of how the new jail is being setup. I would say as far as any major changes and things like that, nothing really major is how I look at it. Some policies and stuff are going to change. If you see me, I have a beard, so we are going to go through and allow people to have beards, maybe tweak the uniforms a little bit; just more of younger thoughts on some certain things. Right now, the big thing is the canine. I want to go through and get some other things in there to incentive some people to stay.”
Pending no independent candidates file to be on the ballot, Cox would officially take over as the next Warren County Sheriff following the General Election November 3rd, 2026.
