United School District held its final Board of Education meeting of the school year last Thursday night, where the board approved a new three-year contract with the United Education Association.

United Superintendent Tom Hawkins says the contract was one of the biggest items coming out of the meeting.

“Our board voted to ratify a three-year contract with our United Education Association. We had been in negotiations this spring semester, and our union voted on the contract in late April. We waited for this board meeting, and our board voted on it last night, got it signed, and so three more years on a contract.”

Hawkins also says United Board of Education meetings will return to one location next school year, with meetings held on the second Thursday of each month at United Junior Senior High School.

United also celebrated commencement for the Class of 2026 last Sunday, while the final day of classes is set for May 28th.
