Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 10th, 2026:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior baseball player, Elijah Noel. Elijah was an important part of three Titan wins last week. He went 4-for-8 at the plate and knocked in six rbis, with three of those coming in a big win over Sherrard. Elijah also came in to pitch in relief in a victory over Mercer County, picking up the save.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore baseball player, Collin Leary. Collin contributed in both the batter’s box and pitching mound in four Red Storm wins last week. He was 6-for-11 at the plate, with three doubles, five runs scored and six rbis. Collin also picked up a pitching win, going four innings, giving up only one run with six strikeouts.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is freshman girls track and field athlete, Addalyn McSparen. Addalyn brought home four medals from the Lincoln Trail Conference Meet in Galva. She is the conference champion in the 100 meter hurdle event. Addalyn also had top- five finishes in three other events, taking 2nd in the 100 meter dash, 4th in the 200 meter and 5th in the 300 meter hurdles.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore softball player, Layla Shepler. Layla continued her great season with a big week at the plate. She went 6-for-10, with a triple and three rbis and is second on the team in batting average for the year. Layla went 2-for-4 with a pair of rbis in a Western Big Six Conference victory over Moline last week.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week. This week the spotlight shines on sophomore boys track and field athlete, James Shuey. James has proven to be a long distance master, bringing home two medals from the Lincoln Trail Conference championship meet in Galva. He placed 2nd in the 800 meter run and was 3rd in the grueling 3200 meter run. James was just .3 seconds away from winning the 800 meter race.
