Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 24th, 2026:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior baseball player, Andrew Way. Andrew had a big day at the plate in a non-conference win over Ridgewood. He went 3-for-4, with 2 rbis. Andrew picked a great time to hit his first home run of his career and also blasted a double, as well.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior boys track and field athlete, Parker Tinkham. Parker qualified for the IHSA state finals in Charleston with a 2nd place finish in the high jump event at the sectional meet in Aledo. He cleared a height of just over 6 feet. Parker nearly qualified in two events, as he took 5th in the 300 meter hurdle race and missed the qualifying time by a mere one second.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is freshman track and field athlete, Jackson Adams. Jackson just missed his chance to qualify for his first IHSA state finals by placing 4th in the discus event at the Mercer County sectional meet. His toss of 130 feet was just 10 feet from the qualifying distance in class 1A. Showing his versatility, earlier this season, Jackson took 6th in the shot put event at the Lincoln Trail Conference championship meet.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior girls track and field athletes, Ella and Taylor Herchenroder. Ella and Taylor brought home 3 medals from the IHSA class 2A state finals in Charleston. Both girls were a part of 3 relay teams that placed in the top 9 in the entire state. The 4×400 team took 3rd, the 4×200 team took 4th and the 4×100 relay took 7th.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior boys track and field athlete, Carter Stroot. In a season plagued with injuries, Carter was fortunately able to take part in the class 1A sectional meet at Mercer County High School in Aledo. He took 2nd in the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.33. That time was fast enough to send Carter to the IHSA State Finals in Charleston.
