Katherine F. Olson, 76, of Biggsville, Illinois, passed away at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, June 28, 2026 at her home. 

Kathy was born July 19, 1949 in St. Francisville, Missouri, the daughter of William Walter and Nellie Florene (Toops) Six. She spent her early years in Missouri. Her family later relocated to Oquawka, where she received her education.

On September 4, 1965 she married Glen D. Olson in Wayland, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2023. 

After their marriage, Kathy joined Glen during his deployment in Germany. Following his military service, the couple lived numerous places including Bald Bluff, Illinois, Danville, Iowa, and Arizona before settling in Biggsville. She spent most of her life working as a Medical Transcriptionist for Burlington Medical Center and retired from the Great River Medical Center in 2007.

Mrs. Olson was a longtime member of the Biggsville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, sewing and attending car shows with Glen. She also co-owned and operated a ceramic shop in Biggsville.

Survivors include two sons: Travis (Clifford) Olson of Peoria and Shane (Tina) Olson of Biggsville, five grandchildren: Brittany (Madison), Amber (Kris), Vanessa (Cody), Aaron (Jackie) and Adrianna (Mario); ten great-grandchildren: Braelynn, Jennings, Avalyn, Ike, Indie, Kolson, Adrian, Sylvie, Amelia and Theodore; one sister: Sharon (Harvey) Kopp, and her in-laws: Jerry and Theda Olson, Robert and Laura Olson, and Rick and Jackie Olson.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings: Earl Six, Helen Davenport, Donna Smith, Tony Bill, and Dennis Boyd.

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home. 

No services are planned at this time. A memorial fund has been established for the Biggsville Ambulance Service. Cards and memorials may be sent to the Kathy Olson Memorial Fund, c/o Banks & Beals Funeral Home, P.O. Box 299, Stronghurst, Illinois 61480.
