Mrs. Kathleen F. Geeseman, 93, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Maquon, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly at 11:06 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in the Emergency Department of OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

She was born February 6, 1933, in Middle Grove, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond and Violet (Lovell) Morse. Though she was born to Raymond and Violet, Kathleen was lovingly raised by her paternal grandparents, Tim and Etta Morse. She married Darwyn Geeseman on September 16, 1953, in Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death.

Kathleen previously resided in Maquon before making her home in Galesburg. She attended Fairview High School and graduated with the Class of 1950. Known for her strong work ethic, Kathleen spent more than 30 years at Gale Products as an inspector. Over the years, she also worked as a keypunch operator, part-time for Olan Mills Portrait Studios, and as a secretary in an insurance office. Her dedication and reliability were evident in every position she held.

A devoted woman of faith, she was a member of First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, where she sang in the choir, led small-group studies, and frequently shared motivational messages. She also served as president of the church’s United Women in Faith organization, formerly known as United Methodist Women. Kathleen had a deep love for animals and generously volunteered her time with the Knox County Humane Society.

Surviving are her adopted children, Jeff Hughs of Victoria, Illinois, and Natalie Mason of Maquon, Illinois; two brothers, Richard Morse of Florida and Raymond (Brenda) Morse of Fayette, Illinois; one sister, Patricia Morse of California; and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, George D. Geeseman, with whom she shared a special bond; her daughter, Darlyn Peterson; three brothers, Timmy James Morse, Danny Morse, and Stanley Morse; two sisters, Dorothy Landcaster and Ethel Miller, and her beloved fur daughter, Gracie the Cat.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2026 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois, where Kathleen will be laid to rest beside her beloved son, George. Pastor Dave. Mustain will be officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Kathleen’s memory to the Knox County Humane Society. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel, is honored to serve Kathleen’s family during their time of need.
