State Senator Neil Anderson (R-Andalusia) is announcing that fire departments and fire protection districts throughout the 47th Senate District have been awarded nearly $270,000 through the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal’s (OSFM) 2026 Small Equipment Grant Program.

“As a firefighter, I understand firsthand how important it is for departments to have reliable equipment when responding to emergencies,” said Senator Anderson. “These grants help ensure firefighters and first responders have the tools they need to protect their communities and return home safely after every call.”

The grants are part of a statewide initiative that awarded $6 million to 260 fire departments, fire protection districts and EMS providers to assist with the purchase of small firefighting and ambulance equipment.

Departments receiving grant funding in the 47th Senate District include:

  • Dallas Rural Fire Protection District – $25,363.80
  • Oquawka Fire Protection District – $26,000
  • Kewanee Community Fire Protection District – $26,000
  • Altona Fire Protection District – $23,445
  • Maquon Fire Protection District – $18,832.75
  • Bath Fire Protection District – $24,385
  • Kilbourne Fire Protection District – $22,905.40
  • Good Hope-Sciota Fire Protection District – $26,000
  • Schaeferville Fire Protection District – $25,971
  • Cincinnati Fire Protection District – $26,000
  • Central Warren County Fire Protection District – $24,970

The Small Equipment Grant Program was created to help fire departments and nonprofit ambulance services address equipment needs that can be difficult to fund through local revenues alone. Grants of up to $26,000 are available for the purchase of essential small equipment that supports emergency response operations.
