The past few months, the Buchanan Center for the Arts has been awaiting renovations to start. Ann Tenold, the Executive Director at the Buchanan Center for the Arts, discusses the big news of signing with Hein Construction for their upcoming project of renovating the 2nd floor.
“We have signed a contract with Hein Construction in Galesburg. We’re going to be able to wrap the windows in the front of the Buchanan Center, so we can show everyone who the subcontractors are and also the renderings for the upstairs. And we’ve been really fortunate that the United Way, across the square from us, has offered us a refuge while the building is being worked on this summer. Our staff will be moving over to the United Way, in probably a couple weeks. If anyone needs to find us, the staff, they can find us at United Way this summer.”
“We’re installing an elevator, so we’ll be able to go up to the second floor, which is going to be mighty important. It will have a performing arts stage, a sound booth and a greenroom, and of course lights so we’ll be able to do performances of all kinds upstairs. We’ll also have a weaver’s studio, they will have two sets of double doors, so they’ll be able to teach classes up there. We’ll also have space for field trips and classrooms, and visual art exhibits with the walls that are upstairs. Then we’ll also have restrooms upstairs.”
A big new project is awaiting to start at the Buchanan Center for the Arts this summer. Keep a look out for the new renovations in the near future.
