Above normal temperatures are anticipated across the area heading into the Fourth of July holiday. According to the National Weather Service, peak heat indices will near 100 degrees or higher. Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau President Jake Armstrong offers these tips to remember when working outdoors in the extreme heat:
“Take some water breaks, especially if you are using masks and proper filters for your lungs; that makes it hard to breathe sometimes. Change them out regularly. Take plenty of water breaks. We will get through this heat, we always do.”
Heat can escalate quickly. Be sure to spend time in the shade, air conditioning, check on livestock and pets, and never leave people or pets alone in a closed vehicle.
