Mr. Alvin “Karl” Pfeiffer, 85, of Woodhull, Illinois, formerly of Abingdon, passed away peacefully at 9:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Karl was born on January 13, 1941, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Alvin and Lillian (Seafelt) Pfeiffer. He married Vivian “Jean” Allen on December 27, 1964. She preceded him in death in October 2013 after 48 years of marriage.

He is survived by his three children, David Pfeiffer of Suffolk, Virginia, Todd (Julie) Pfeiffer of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Karla (Rich) Bailey of Woodhull, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law, Debbie Pfeiffer.

Karl was raised on a dairy farm and graduated from Midwest Central High School in Manito with the Class of 1958. Following his education, he worked as a truck driver for DCM, where he was employed for approximately 15 years before retiring.

Karl found great joy in baking and was affectionately known throughout the community as the “Cookie Man” for the dozens of homemade cookies he baked and sold on weekends. He also had a passion for gardening and took pride in raising hundreds of tomato and pepper plants each year, generously sharing his harvest with family, friends, and neighbors.

In accordance with Karl’s wishes, cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Abingdon Chapel. A graveside service will immediately follow at Abingdon Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Jean. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.
