The Knoxville Blue Bullets are getting ready for year two under Head Coach Marty Turner after qualifying for the playoffs last season.
Knoxville returns five starters on offense and six on defense. They got an early look at this year’s group during a joint practice last week at Monmouth College.
Coach Turner says last year’s difficult schedule helped prepare the Blue Bullets for what is ahead.
“Last year, we ended the season playing seven consecutive playoff teams. Our first three weeks were non-playoff teams, and then after that it was murderers’ row. Our kids learned a lot from that. You look at the total schedule this year, and we’ve got six teams that were in the playoffs last year. So we’ve got another tough schedule, but that’s what you want. The kids are putting in good work. We’ve got young guys coming up. We have to replace a two-year starting quarterback, but we have a senior quarterback who didn’t play last year coming back, and the kid who got reps all day today was a freshman at quarterback. There are a lot of guys to be excited about.”
The Blue Bullets will kick off their season August 21st on the road against the Macomb Bombers.
