Fair season is almost here. Shelby Carlson, a 4-H Youth Educator with the University of Illinois Extension, shared an overview of upcoming local 4-H livestock shows and county fairs.

“We have, starting on July 11, our McDonough and Knox County fairs. Those are going to run and coincide together, so you may have to split your time between McDonough County and Knox County,” Carlson said.

“The Knox County 4-H Fair will run July 11 through July 14- and that will be the 4-H show. McDonough County will run July 11 through July 15 and will be held in conjunction with the McDonough County Junior Show.”

Carlson also highlighted events in Warren County.

“Warren County is going to start July 14 and run through July 16. We’ve got this great new building at the Warren County Fairgrounds, the Patty Pavilion, and we are super excited to be able to have our 4-H projects in there.”

After a short break, attention will turn to Henderson County.

“Then we get a little bit of a break before we transition to the Henderson County Fair, which will run July 27 through August 1 this year,” Carlson added.

WRAM will be on location throughout July, providing coverage of the local 4-H livestock shows.
