High school football season is right around the corner, and the Monmouth-Roseville Titans got an early look at where they stand during a joint practice Thursday at Monmouth College.
The Titans squared off with 4A state qualifier Geneseo and 4A Canton as they continue preparing for a season that will feature plenty of new faces after last year’s quarterfinal run and record-setting 10-win season.
Head Coach Jeremy Adolphson says he saw some encouraging signs.
“I thought we saw some really good bright spots offensively, especially. I thought we took some steps up front. We’ve got Kane Johnson there at quarterback, who I thought did some really good things, especially as the day wore on. He gives us a little added dimension with his athleticism, and he throws the ball really well. Defensively, we’re still just trying to figure it out. We’re replacing some really, really good guys. I think we’ve got some promise there. It’s just going to be a different defense.”
Monmouth-Roseville officially opens practice August 5th before kicking off the season August 21st at Erie-Prophetstown, as the Titans look to qualify for the playoffs for a sixth straight season.
