Carl Sandburg College students are finding ways to get involved outside the classroom and give back to the community.

Anthony Law, Associate Director of Student Engagement and Leadership at Sandburg, says those experiences are a big part of a student’s education.

“Our main goal is to serve our community, educate our students, and give them opportunities to serve our community. I love the fact that most of our active students aren’t even from here. They come here for a short period of time, and they adopt us as their home away from home. They don’t just do that to receive; they do it to give. That’s one of the great things I love about education. It doesn’t always happen in the classroom. Most of your education happens from the experiences and opportunities that you take advantage of.”

Sandburg student organizations were recognized earlier this year by the Illinois House of Representatives for their volunteer work in the community.
