Projects will include dual-use agricultural practices and pay more than $1 million in local taxes

Monmouth, Ill – Pivot Energy, a national renewable energy independent power producer, recently received approval for four new community solar projects in Warren County, IL. The combined projects will have a capacity of 16.7 megawatts (MW) AC and are located on private land near 160th Ave. and 140th St., south of Cameron, IL. Pivot has been working in Illinois since 2018 and has 64 Illinois solar projects in operation or construction for a total of 213 MW.

Pivot worked with Warren County officials, planning staff, and project neighbors to design projects that will be a positive presence in the community.

“Pivot Energy’s team is excited to bring four new solar projects that, together, will generate over $1 million in tax revenue for Warren County, while creating enough local power to support approximately 5,000 homes,” said Liz Reddington, VP of Project Development for Pivot Energy. “We look forward to continuing the relationships we’ve developed in Warren County as we build and operate these projects.”

Additionally, Pivot’s community impact fund will donate $5000 per MW — a total of $84,000 — to support nonprofit organizations that serve the local community. Pivot’s impact fund supports workforce development, energy assistance, land stewardship, and economic development. Pivot is committed to supporting the organizations that matter most to Warren County residents. Members of the community who have recommendations for nonprofits working in these areas can let the Pivot Energy team know at community@pivotenergy.net.

The Warren County solar projects were informed by Pivot’s purpose-driven approach to solar development. Pivot conducted outreach and hosted a community meeting early in its development process to gather feedback from neighbors.

The land for the solar project is leased from local landowners, and the remaining acreage will continue to be farmed. Pivot employs dual-use agricultural practices across its project portfolio. Once operational, the Warren County Solar projects will use sheep grazing for vegetation management and plant pollinator-friendly groundcover. These dual-use solar project practices create new opportunities for agriculture on the site while also improving soil health.

Pivot expects to begin construction on the four solar projects as early as the spring of next year.
