The preseason high school football poll was released late in the day on Wednesday. The poll that was previously the AP Poll has been changed to the Media Poll. It’s the usual suspects at the top of the 8 classes. Defending champions are #1 in classes 1-4. Lena-Winslow leads 1A, Wilmington leads 2A, Byron is on top of 3A and Lombard Montini is #1 in 4A.
Locally in class 1A, Camp Point Central is #5 and LincolnLand member Annawan/Wethersfield is #10. In class 2A, TRAC members Sterling Newman and Rockridge come in at #5 and #7, respectively. In between those two schools, LincolnLand member Farmington is #6. In class 3A, TRAC members Monmouth-Roseville and Princeton both received votes but not enough to crack the top-10. Macomb got some votes in class 4A, with a pair of Western Big Six schools being recognized. Geneseo is #9 and Sterling received one vote.
