High school sports are officially getting underway, and the Monmouth-Roseville Titans are gearing up for another fall season.
Principal Eric Matthews shares an update on participation numbers across the Titans athletic programs.
“Volleyball numbers are a little down at the varsity level. I think they’ve got eight to nine. Incoming freshman numbers are really big. The sophomore group is good. We’ve kind of seen that across the board in all of our sports, soccer, football and everything, is our freshman and sophomore numbers are good. We’ve just had low participation with our current juniors and seniors. It goes in waves sometimes, and that’s kind of where we’re at. But we see what’s coming even in the current seventh and eighth graders, those numbers are big. So I see kind of an uptick here in the next couple years.”
Matthews also says numbers are up for the Titans golf program this fall.
The Titans will officially kick off their fall sports season Monday on the golf course as they look to regain the Maple City Trophy at Gibson Woods against the United Red Storm.
