As deputies respond to domestic violence calls, Warren County Sheriff Martin Edwards stresses the importance of following orders of protection and avoiding violations:
“That seems to always be the forefront of our problems is domestic discord that happens. It is not just married couples, it is people that live together and it seems to be a friend where things are done, somebody is told to leave, and they just can’t seem to let it go. If you find yourself in that position, you are just going to have to let it go because ultimately it begins to snowball and then Orders of Protection get put into place,” informs Sheriff Edwards.
“Orders of Protection are taken quite seriously. Even in these situations where somebody gets arrested and brought to jail, normally there is a 72-hour judicial stay away order. That means business. There is absolutely no contact. Observe and obey it and there won’t be any further problems,” Sheriff Edwards adds.
