The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program through Warren County Housing provides rental assistance for eligible low-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Executive Director Hank Shimmin explains how the program assists potential applicants and landlords:

“We are another support staff to the landlord. Part of our requirement to hold the voucher is they have to pay rent. If they get behind on rent, they are at risk of losing their voucher. Now, the rent that they pay is a lesser amount because we pay the landlord directly and part of their rent also. It is a great program, a great opportunity,” says Shimmin.

“If you currently rent and are getting behind, definitely give us a call. It doesn’t have to be a new rental situation, it can be somewhere you have been living for years,” Shimmin adds.
