September is National Food Safety Education Month. Knox County Health Department Director of Public Health and Community Engagement Erin Olson offers these tips in preventing foodborne illnesses:
“It doesn’t matter if you are eating in your kitchen, in your breakroom, at a community event, or in your car, we want to remember that food safety is important. Cleaning, separating, cooking, and chilling. Make sure you are cooling your food down right, cooking it to the right temperature, not putting meat and vegetables all in the same drawer together in your fridge, and just cleaning, washing your hands. We will be working with our schools in Knox County. They will be doing some coloring activities, just so we are getting that message out to everybody.”
