As mowing season continues, Monmouth Police Chief Joe Switzer is reminding individuals to not blow grass clippings out into the street:
“Please do not mow grass into the street. It is really easy for that to happen, but if you do mow grass into the street, please clear it out. What happens is several things, but that grass does go down into the sewer and sits there forever. It plugs the sewer system. Secondly, it makes for a slick surface for motorcycles and bicycles. If you are mowing your yard, please get the grass out of the street if you have mowed any grass into the street. Worst case scenario, we will issue an ordinance violation for that.”
