Lois J. Malcolm, 89, of Galesburg, died at 11 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2026, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born August 21, 1937, in Galesburg, the daughter of Walter E. and Helen E. (Lindgren) Carlson. She married John C. Malcolm on March 4, 1956, in Galesburg.
She is survived by her children, Linda J. (Mitch) Ekstedt of Altona, Ed J. (Esther) Malcolm of Dahinda, and Sharon (Roger Hagerty) Marshall of Galesburg; seven grandchildren, Aaron (Jamie) Stone, Michael Stone, Elijah (Paige) Ekstedt, Seth (Amber) Malcolm, Cory (Kodi) Marshall, Nathan Marshall, and Katie Marshall; 11 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Anita Carlson of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Donald Carlson, John Carlson, Caryl Poland, Janet Martin Griffith, and Barbara Carlson.
Lois was a Class 1 Assembler at the former Admiral/Maytag from 1973 until her retirement in 2001. She was a 1955 graduate of Galesburg High School. She attended the former Bethany Baptist Church of Galesburg. Lois loved animals, especially cats.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bob Nutzhorn officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to OSF Hospice, Knox County Humane Society, Cat N Around Rescue, or Bethany Baptist Church of Altona.
