The West Central Heat will be back on the field Friday night after a week off, putting their undefeated record on the line against a much-improved Bushnell-Prairie City squad.
West Central enters the matchup at 4-0 after opening the season with wins over Flanagan/Woodland, Blue Ridge/DeLand-Weldon, Galva and Peoria Heights. The Heat have scored at least 32 points in every game this season and are coming off their bye week.
BPC enters at 4-1 after going just 1-8 a season ago. After dropping their opener to Polo, the Spartans have rattled off four straight wins, scoring 224 points over that stretch while allowing just 44.
Head Coach Jason Kirby says there is plenty that stands out about this BPC squad.
“They’re four and one. They got beat by Polo, and they’ve run off some nice wins since. They have the state’s leading rusher in Mr. Harrell at 1,179 yards, 19 touchdowns. The average size of their offensive line is 222 pounds. They give up 22 points a game, and they are receiving votes to be ranked in the state. They’re a really good team, they have really done some nice things.”
Kirby and the Heat got a chance to see the Spartans in person during the bye week, traveling together to watch BPC’s 42-20 win over Galva last Friday night.
West Central will host Bushnell-Prairie City Friday night for Homecoming as the Heat look to stay unbeaten. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM.
