The United Red Storm girls and boys golf teams claimed Lincoln Trail Conference Railsplitter championships on Wednesday. It’s the 3rd time since 2021 that both teams won the title in the same year, joining the 2021 and 2023 squads.
The girls tournament was held at Lake Bracken Country Club in Galesburg. The original date of September 16th was rained out. United carded a team score of 380, besting runner-up Stark County by 57 strokes. West Central was 3rd at 588. Individually, the Red Storm had four golfers place in the top-10 for 1st team All-Conference honors. The conference champ is Livvy Edmund from Ridgewood. She shot an impressive 76. Behind Edmund was United’s Paige Christianson’s 83. Christianson’s teammates Kennedy Martin was 3rd with a 90, Abigail Kendall was 6th with a 101 and rounding the scoring for United was Carsyn Long’s 10th place score of 106. West Central was led by Miley Stimpson’s 12th place total of 109. A-Town’s Addison Engstrom was 15th with a 112.
On the boy’s side, United’s team total of 348 was three strokes better than Bureau Valley. The tournament was held at Midland Golf Club in Kewanee. Knoxville was 3rd at 365, followed by West Central’s 5th place and A-Town’s 10th place finish. Individually, Bureau Valley’s Chase Stier was the meet medalist with a 77. United’s Cohen Long was 5th with an 85. Other Red Storm LTC 1st team All-Conference finishers included Peyton Martin in 7th with an 86 and Lucas Horner in 9th, also shooting an 86. Rounding out the United scoring was Gage Lancaster in 12th with a 91. West Central’s Aiden Todd is a 1st team all-conference member, carding an 86 for 8th. A-Town was led by Jordan Bowling with a 33rd place finish at 107.
