The United Red Storm keep their playoff hopes alive with a comeback win over Rushville/Industry in Rushville. United jumped out to an 8-0 lead at the end of the first quarter on an 85 yard touchdown pass from Kellen Boone to Carter Olson. R/I would tie things up at 8-all at the half on a 13 yard touchdown pass from Brady McGinnis to Keaton Ruth. The Red Storm retook the lead halfway through the 3rd quarter as Boone would hook up with Koen Sperry for a 20 yard strike. The 2pt conversion failed so United would only lead by six points at 14-8. The Rockets would take their only lead of the game with 1:39 left in the 3rd. Ruth would hit the endzone again, this time rushing one in. The 2pt conversion was good and it was 16-14. United’s Boone would throw his 3rd touchdown of the game, hitting Sperry from 28 yards out to round out the scoring in the game.
United improves to (1-5) overall and (1-1) in the LincolnLand Conference South Division. They were led by Boone’s 9-16, 273 yards and three touchdowns passing. Olson led the Red Storm with 85 yards receiving. Sperry had two touchdown catches and 48 yards. Boone had 35 of the 60 total yards rushing. Rushville/Industry is still winless on the season at (0-6).
United will stay on the road for week 7 as they head to Cuba, Illinois for a game against the LVC (North Fulton/Lewistown co-op).
