Monmouth Mayor Rod Davies has proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, recognizing the importance of raising awareness and supporting survivors in the community:
“October is known around the country as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, to help ensure that victims know they are not alone. In that proclamation, by working together we can raise awareness and break the cycles of domestic violence to build a community that is safe for everyone. I urge all citizens to stand together against domestic violence to offer support and understanding to survivors and to participate in domestic violence awareness activities during the month.”
Locally, free and confidential crisis counseling and support is available through the Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency 24/7 Crisis Hotline at 309-837-5555.
