As trick-or-treaters prepare to hit the streets, Monmouth Police Sergeant Lucas Johnson is reminding families and motorists of safety tips to help ensure a safe Halloween for everyone:

“We always remind parents to know where their children are at all times. Make sure they are wearing visible clothing or costumes, reflective clothing, or a glow stick. It is good to make sure your child has a costume they can see through and a costume that is not too big they that they are dragging around that they could trip,” informs Johnson.

“Also, if you are out driving around on Halloween or anytime this weekend, make sure you are vigilant and watching the walkers on the roadway. Kids could run out in front of you, so watch behind parked cars, in parking lots, or driveways and give yourself time to react,” Johnson adds.

Local trick-or-treating hours in the City of Monmouth are Saturday, October 31st from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
