As October marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Jill Mann with Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency Victim Services, is reminding the public that support is available for anyone affected by domestic violence, including those concerned for a loved one:

“Domestic Violence Awareness Month is October. There are purple ribbons out to bring awareness. If you know anyone that needs help, even if somebody thinks their friend might need some, they can call on behalf of their friend to ask questions and see the best way to approach their friend and then encourage their friend to call us if they need help. We are happy to talk through the options with them. We have various options that we can offer at Victim Services for protection, support, and counseling.”

Free and confidential crisis counseling, advocacy, and support is available 24/7 through the WIRC crisis line at 309-837-5555.
