The United Red Storm kept things rolling tonight, picking up their third straight win with a 47-21 victory over South Fulton.
United entered the night at 2-5 against a South Fulton squad that had won six straight and came in at 6-1, but the Red Storm jumped out early and never looked back.
Kellen Boone had a huge night for the United offense, accounting for all seven Red Storm touchdowns. Boone finished 15-for-17 through the air for 242 yards and three touchdowns while adding 133 yards and four more scores on the ground. United finished the night with 449 yards of total offense.
Wyatt Bockelman was Boone’s top target, hauling in seven passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Koen Sperry added 70 yards on the ground as United finished with 207 rushing yards as a team.
The Red Storm defense also came up big against a South Fulton offense that had been putting up plenty of yards throughout the season. United held the Rebels to 260 yards of total offense and came up with several big stops in the second half to keep South Fulton from getting back into the game.
The win moves United to 3-5 on the season and officially clinches a playoff berth for the Red Storm under the new IHSA playoff format. After starting the season 0-5, United has now rattled off three straight wins.
The Red Storm will close out the regular season at home next Friday night against Havana, looking to make it four straight before heading into the postseason. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM.
