The Warren County YMCA is inviting community members of all fitness levels to take on a new challenge with an upcoming HYROX simulation, featuring eight functional fitness stations and running segments on Saturday, November 21st, at the Huff Athletic Center on the Monmouth College campus. Personal Trainer Michelle Johnson explains how the competition works:
“It is a simulation competition, but what HYROX is, it’s basically an indoor fitness race that combines running and functional strength exercises. You run, you complete a workout station, and then you repeat that eight times. The run itself is about 4.97 miles total, but you run 1,000 meters at a time. Then you do one workout station after each run. It usually takes people between one and two hours, so our first heat will go at 7 am. You don’t need to be a runner. You don’t need to be a power lifter or a bodybuilder. This is a great opportunity for everybody to challenge themselves.”
