Story by Prairie Communications intern Kadin Rogers
The Monmouth-Roseville high school boys and girls track programs have started to get more meets under their belts as the weather has lightened up. Last week the Titans were in Kewanee for a meet at Kewanee High School on Thursday, then they took part in the Lee Calhoun invite at Western Illinois University on Friday. The Titan boys squad took first place at the Lee Calhoun meet, besting 15 other schools and outdistancing 2nd place Macomb by 53 points. All this action for Titans track has given the athletes a chance to practice in the early part of the season, and break personal best records from last season. Head Coach on the boys side Kevin Ferry says he is already seeing improvement from his athletes, and that they have started to buy into the program.
Monmouth-Roseville gets right back into action tonight when they host the annual Titan Invite at Sunny Lane Field on Monday. For the full interview with Track Coaches Kevin Ferry and Titan girl’s coach Don Luper, visit the Sports Podcast section of our website, radiomonmouth.com.
