A new police officer has been sworn in by the Monmouth City Council to join the Monmouth Police Department, shares Communications Director Ken Helms:

“Jorge Perez, he is a new police officer that we hired from Galesburg PD, so he is a lateral transfer. He is working currently with a FTO, that is the way we do all the intakes when a new officer comes on. They are paired with a long veteran officer, gives them a chance to get used to it, to be evaluated, and then after they complete their FTO program, they are out on the streets 100% by themselves.”
