The Candyland Ball is one of the top Knox County premier events for holiday festivities. Take part in this magical and memorable Holiday tradition on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the elegant Lake Storey Pavilion. This evening will include plenty of excitement and entertainment to keep them busy and having fun. Participants will enjoy dancing, crafts, dinner, seasonal songs and a special visit from the North Pole. This adult-child date night is definitely a night to remember and cherish for years to come. The fee is $72 per couple with $25 for each additional child, Kindergarten to 6th grades. Dickerson’s Photo Studio will be available for special keepsake photos for an additional fee the night of the event. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis with limited space. Hawthorne Municipal Pool Open Swim, Lane Swim and Aquatic Fitness
Stay active in the water this winter at the City of Galesburg Parks and Recreation Indoor Aquatic Facility, Hawthorne Municipal Pool, with open swim, lane swim or aquatic fitness. Hawthorne Municipal Pool is a 45 x 100 foot traditional pool open to the general public. There are numerous aquatic programs for infants to senior citizens. Programs include, but are not limited to Aquatic Group Fitness classes, Learn to Swim lessons, Lane Swimming, Open Swimming, and Splash Party Rentals. Early morning lane swim and open swims are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6-8:00 a.m. and 4-6:00 p.m. Aquatic Fitness is available Monday through Friday 8-9 a.m. There is also an Aqua-Zumba class 9-10 a.m. and Aqua-Motion class 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Open swim daily admission is $5.00 per person with monthly passes being $30. Splash Parties – Hawthorne Municipal Pool
Hawthorne Municipal Pool is the perfect place for a pool party. Reservations are now being taken for Splash Parties at Hawthorne Municipal Pool. Rentals may include an inflatable WiBit (Full or partial) for additional fun. The reserved time includes all time in the facility. The City of Galesburg Recreation Department is now accepting registration for the December 5-21, 2023 session of Learn to Swim. Group classes are available for Parent/Tot, Preschool, Levels I-VI. A parent/guardian must be in the water for the Aquababies class, ages 3 and under. Private lessons are another option for those wanting more individualized instruction. Adult Private Swim Lessons

It is never too late to learn how to swim. Adult swim lessons are offered by the City of Galesburg Recreation Department at Hawthorne Municipal Pool. Adults, ages 17 and up, can register for swim lessons to become more comfortable in, on and around the water. Instructors will review essential water safety skills and teach basic swim instruction to help develop safe swimming and to enhance overall health and fitness. Classes will be held Tuesdyas and/or Thursdays from 4:30-5:00 p.m. The fee is $25 per single session. Sign up to secure an instructor. This is a great way to obtain individualized instruction. Tumble Tots

Tumbling Tots is back with NEW age categories and times. Youth, ages 2-3 years and 4-6 years, will learn the basics of tumbling every Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 to January 3rd, 2024. There will be no class on December 27th, 2023 for the holiday week. This is a great program to work on motor skills and tumbling while having fun and socializing. Indoor Mobile Playground

If you had a blast with the Mobile Playground at local parks this summer, or are ready to be active once again then look no further. The Mobile Playground is moving indoors with more fun and toys, such as jumbo yard games, playground toys, sports equipment and more. Staff will have a variety of toys and activities set up to challenge and entertain kiddos, and adults. Who doesn’t enjoy a good game of giant frisbee or jumbo Connect 4? Each week will feature a large game, such as an inflatable game or obstacle course, or fun guests with special activities. Pre-registration is encouraged, but drop ins allowed, as space permits. Please register each person individually. The cost is $4.00 for a daily admission for ages 12 and under; ages 2 and under are free. The Indoor Mobile Playground is available on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 pm. This is set up for 3-12 years of age.

Class is held outdoors at the Lakeside Nature Center Shelter, with a nature walk through the woods, so dress for the weather. This is a free program for all ages. No pre-registration is required. Join the CIty of Galesburg Parks and Recreation for hand-on fun and exploratory activities with your child at Lakeside Nature Center with this month’s “Animals in Winter” theme. Participants will talk about the different ways animals have adapted to winter weather, make nature-spotter binoculars, create a simple bird feeder and take a nature hike. Registration ends on December 8th, 2023.

Maddy is a Galesburg High School Tennis Player. Participants, ages 18 years and younger, can enroll for extra practice or to be introduced to the sport of tennis. We know you will “LOVE” the lessons. Private lessons are $25 per session for private instruction or $40 per session for Semi Private (2 participants) instruction available on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3-7:00 p.m. Each session is 1 hour long.
