Suspect Arrested for Aggravated Battery with Deadly Weapon

On Thursday, September 10, 2026, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Galesburg Police Department was dispatched to the 500 block of Iowa Ct. for a disturbance involving a possible stabbing.

Upon arrival, Galesburg officers rendered aid to a 29-year-old female victim who appeared critically injured. Galesburg Fire Department and Galesburg Hospitals Ambulance Service also provided aid to the victim, who was transported by ambulance to OSF St. Mary Medical Center and subsequently life flighted to a Peoria hospital.

During the initial investigation, officers identified Destiny N. Denniston, 29, as the suspect. Galesburg officers searched the surrounding area and located Denniston, who then fled on foot. Officers apprehended Denniston a short time later in the 300 block of Ohio Ave.

Denniston was arrested for Aggravated Battery – Great Bodily Harm, Aggravated Battery – Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Battery – Public Place. Additional charges may be pending. She was transported to the Knox County Jail.
